Hello KOHPT Patients and Family,
We hope everyone is staying safe and feeling well. Our commitment for our patients and employees is our first priority. We know this is a trying time for all of us in many ways. We wanted to inform you that we offer Telehealth and e-visits to continue your physical therapy from the safety of your homes, during this time.
Telehealth is face-to-face, synchronized PT sessions through a secure online video. These visits will be helpful in continuing your progressions and reducing the risk of interrupting care. We will be able to assess your current symptoms, answer any of your questions related to your plan of care, and prescribe exercises and stretches or self mobility using items in your home going forward. It is important to stay active and continue with your home exercises.
Your insurance company has authorized telehealth PT for you in order to continue or restart your physical therapy in the midst of this pandemic. While an in-person visit is always preferred, the accessibility of your therapist and to continue learning new corrective exercises, stretches, review past home exercise routines, and to speak on new pain that might arise is important.
Some studies have announced that one of the biggest limitations in the progress of physical therapy is improper techniques with their home program and compliance. Many home exercises/stretches incorrectly performed have been found to cause more injuries and/or decrease effectiveness of their PT exercises.
The State Public Health Officer has designated physical therapists and assistants as essential critical infrastructure workers. We are in compliance and closely monitoring the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) , along with all federal, state and local government mandates and for the latest developments.
