What is Fascia?
Fascia is a connective tissue that exists within and throughout the entire body, surrounding tissue and providing shape for muscles, tendons, and joints. Fascia is made up of multiple layers with the liquid hyaluronan in between, allowing for it to stretch as you move. However, fascia also has nerves, causing it to tighten up when stressed, resulting in limited mobility and the development of knots.
Fascial manipulation (FM) is a manual therapy technique that specifically aims to improve the movement and flexibility of the fascia. A multitude of conditions, ranging from back pain to headaches can result from the fascia not working properly and can be resolved with the help of fascial manipulation.
